Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4
“I feel in my heart that this work is the best I have ever written” was how Tchaikovsky described his Symphony No. 4, though it received lukewarm reviews at its premiere. Today, Tchaikovsky’s brilliant symphony is much-loved through imaginative dialogue, a Fate motif, and a rousing ending. Opening the program is The Phoenix by Mark Edwards Wilson, the Grand Prize Winner of the Realize Music Challenge, recently released and performed only a handful of times. A mix of the well-known with up-and-coming is what makes this season finale an enthralling finish to a magical season!
