Wharton Center for Performing Arts has established a scholarship
fund, known as Seats 4 Kids, to provide free tickets
to local youth who could not otherwise afford to attend a performing
arts event. Contributions from generous individuals like you
allow us to provide tickets to economically-disadvantaged children
through local community service organizations and Title 1 schools
that have been pre-approved based on their ability to distribute
scholarship tickets to qualified kids.
Experiencing the performing arts is about much more than being entertained. The
arts have the power to teach, to inspire, to unify, and truly transform
individuals of all ages and backgrounds. Time and time again,
research shows that young people who are engaged in the arts do better
in school and are more involved in their communities. They also demonstrate
higher academic performance including increased standardized test
scores and lower drop-out rates than those students not involved
in the arts.
Contributions to the Seats 4 Kids scholarship fund
will be acknowledged in Wharton Center’s Curtain Call house
program for the season in which your tax-deductible donation occurs
($100 or more). You’ll also receive an invitation to
Wharton Center’s annual donor appreciation concert and a subscription
to the Backstage newsletter. More importantly,
you’ll receive the benefit of knowing that your generosity
has helped inspire children through the transformative power of the
performing arts.
All recipient organizations have submitted formal applications and
have been pre-approved by Wharton Center management. Participating
organizations are not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organizations or Title
1 schools that offer programs focused on economically-disadvantaged
youth. The quantity and frequency of scholarship tickets is
based on available funding. Your tax-deductible contribution
made to the Seats 4 Kids scholarship fund is for
the express purpose of purchasing tickets for qualified youth. Donations
do not qualify for Wharton Center’s seating priority system.
