Arts Integration Summer Institute
Federal Credit Union Institute for Arts and Creativity at Wharton Center, under the direction of The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Partners in Education program, offer their 2nd Arts Integration Summer Institute. The Institute is a high-energy mix of arts experiences with acclaimed artists and expertly facilitated curriculum, instruction and assessment planning time for educators. Classroom teachers and arts certified specialists co-plan arts integrated lessons, units and projects that serve to engage learners, differentiate instruction, and capitalize on student’s multiple learning modalities while meeting both academic and arts objectives. The Institute’s theme is, Integrating the Arts with Common Core & the New Assessments. The Institute facilitator and keynoter is Deborah Brzoska, a specialist in creative school reform. Arts experiences will include: Storytelling with Charlotte Blake Alston, Lyric and Songwriting with John Forster, Playwrighting with Joesph Zettlemaier. One day of the Institute will be held at the new The Eli and Edyth Broad Art Museum.
Successful implementation initiatives related to arts integration across the country are those that include: professional learning that is experiential in nature, sustained over time, resourced correctly, and job-embedded. Register teams from a building/district (classroom teacher(s), arts specialist(s), administrator(s) to maximize the impact of this Institute.

- Audience: Teams and single registrants, K-12, all subjects, all art forms
- Time: 8:30 a.m.— 4:30 p.m.
- Location: Wharton Center for the Performing Arts—Michigan State University
- Cost: $750 for team of 5 (includes building administrator), $125 each for teacher teams beyond 5
- Credit: Up to 15 SCECH or 1-2 college credits
