We are proud to introduce ĭmáGen 2016 – a unique educational collaboration between MSU Federal Credit Union Institute for Arts & Creativity at Wharton Center and MSU’s Department of Theatre in the College of Arts and Letters.
An up-and-coming composer, librettist and playwright will hone a new work under the shared guidance of a top New York director, along with Wharton Center Executive Director Mike Brand; MSU Department of Theatre Chairperson, Kirk Domer; MSU Department of Theatre Artistic Director Rob Roznowski; MSU Department of Theatre Musical Director Dave Wendelberger; MSU Department of Theatre Assistant Professor of Musical Theatre and Choreography; Brad Willcuts, and Associate Director of MSU Federal Credit Union Institute for Arts & Creativity at Wharton Center and MSU Department of Theatre voice instructor, Kris Koop Ouellette. The new work will come to life as created by a team of Broadway professionals playing leading roles, with additional casting drawn from the talents of MSU Department of Theatre and area high schools.
High school students are invited to audition on Saturday, April 30, 2016,* for the opportunity to participate, free of charge, in a two-week workshop of the brand-new musical. Rehearsal dates are Monday, October 3 through Friday, October 21, 2016 at Wharton Center for the Performing Arts. The workshop will culminate in three premiere public** performances of the work-in-progress on Friday and Saturday, October 21 & 22, 2016 on Wharton Center’s Pasant Stage.
