Teaching Artist Institute

According to the International Teaching Artists Collaborative: Teaching artistry is a global practice in which artists expand their creative skills to engage directly with communities and schools, using their craft as a powerful tool for local change. While the practice varies across countries and contexts, it is unified by shared foundational principles, values, and methods, offering a unique and transformative approach to addressing diverse needs through the universal language of the arts.

Now in its fourth year, Wharton Center is thrilled to offer an evolving Teaching Artist Institute. Formatted for brand new teaching artists as well as those who are working in the field, this Institute will broaden your skill set, offer feedback for your current practices, and give you plenty of networking opportunities. We will welcome multiple facilitators this year to encourage a broad view of the field. Specific topics to explore are lesson planning, creating your brand/pitch, and the logistics of planning/scheduling in-class partnerships.
