Hailed as “The Lion of Zimbabwe,” Thomas Mapfumo is a musical visionary, fearless social critic, and one of the greatest African bandleaders of the past century. His immense popularity and the influence he wields through his music have spanned decades. He created and popularized Chimurenga music, a Zimbabwean music genre that blends traditional Shona mbira music with modern electric instruments and lyrics infused with social and political commentary. The word chimurenga itself is the word for liberation in the Shona language. Don’t miss the chance to experience this music legend and his band live, for one night only!
