Bring Arts & Creativity to Teaching & Learning

The 2021-22 Kennedy Center Partners in Education (KC-PIE) Program is a partnership between Ingham ISD and Wharton Center for Performing Arts. It is based on the belief that teachers’ professional training in arts integration is essential for efforts to increase the artistic literacy of young people.

This annual program for Ingham ISD and surrounding school districts invites preK-12 teachers and administrators to:

  1. Learn more by attending our Free Virtual Workshop on May 11, 2021 at 4-5pm. Meet teaching artists and program administrators while engaging in arts activities. Ask questions and begin to think about how the KC-PIE program can bring creativity to your classroom. To register, email Chris Quinn at cquinn@inghamisd.org. You will receive a link prior to the Zoom meeting. As a participant you will receive two free tickets to a non-Broadway performance when Wharton Center opens again to the public.
  2. Participate in an Arts Integration Summer Institute where educators and guest artists come together to deepen their understanding of arts integration. We welcome musician, poet and multi-media artist Baba Bomani as guest artist this year as we gather August 3-4, 2021 on the campus of Ingham ISD. Attendance at this seminar is required for participation in the KC-PIE program.
  3. Become part of a Professional Learning Community and receive support from professionals and peers by sharing and learning about best practices in arts integration. There are three afterschool meetings during the course of the school year. Time and place are to be determined.
  4. Work with a teaching artist to design and implement an Arts Integrated Residency made uniquely for your classroom. This is a highlight of the program for both teachers and students.

Cost of Program: $200 per person. SCECHs to be offered pending MDE approval. PreK-12 teachers and administrators are welcome. Attendance is limited to 32 participants. (If you are struggling with the cost of the program, please reach out, we can help make participation possible.)
